Tough to hear, but motivating

Today's bike practice was fun. We met at 7:30 a.m. as usual. Our honored teammate, Mark, shared his story of how he survived cancer. Everyone was really touched by his story and most of us had tears coming down our face. He was only 20 when he got diagnosed with Hodgkins disease. He went through a very tough time obviously, juggling between treatment and school. He has done a few triathlons so far and re-iterated how important it is to raise the money we are raising. When he was born, there was only a 5% chance of his survival, and by the time he was diagnosed it had gone up to 95%!! It was very touching to hear his survival story.

At Fiesta Island we practiced changing gears and did some one-foot peddling to strengthen each leg. We also went over how to take off our tires, and how to put them back on. It's kinda harder than it would seem. Next week we have a tire changing clinic. We must know how to change a tire in case we get a flat on the race. At the race, we cannot get any help or we will be disqualified.

I am renting a bike from coach, but I really want my own bike now. I'm going to start looking into it. I love riding!!
